Life Plan Devotion #62 [God's Armor]

Yesterday, we looked at how faith is really simple, as it means taking God at His Word. I also mentioned that the "shield of faith" is part of the "full armor of God" (Ephesians 6:11,16). After posting the devotion, I began to pray about where God would take us next, and after reading a reply to the devotion, I knew that God would have us look at Ephesians 6:10-17.
To a soldier, his armor meant protection and a means to gain victory. It is the same with the armor of God. The Word of God tells us to "put on the armor of light," to "clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ" (Romans 13:12c,14a, NIV), so as we are hidden in Jesus, we can count on victory, both in the present and for all eternity.
God promises victory in the midst of trials, not immunity from them. It is crucial that, as a believer, you daily make the choice to put on God's Armor, each piece, to put into place what you know about each piece. We will look at each piece of the Armor, so you can recognize how much you know about it, as well as how much you are using it in your daily life.

Ephesians 6:10-11 [NIV]
"Be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes."

What this has to do with weight loss: Satan does not want you to succeed at anything, even at losing weight. If he can't use anything else to defeat you, he will use food to do so. You can take your stand against that schemer by putting on the full armor of God. Each piece of the armor can help you in the fight for victory over any difficulty on the weight-loss journey.

Prayer for Today:
"Heavenly, Father, it means so much to me to know that You know all about my battles and that You have provided the perfect armor, complete with everything I need to know and do, to be victorious against the one who wants me to be defeated. I do not need to fear him, but I do need to be aware of him. May I choose, every single day, to put on the armor that You've given to me. I pray in Jesus' Name. Amen."

Go forth today, choosing to pick up and put on God's Armor.
